As the minister of Covenant Presbyterian Church, John’s passion is expositional preaching from the Bible. A gifted teacher, he is a pastor with real-world experience and a heart for leading others to the truth of the gospel.

John is a native and lifelong resident of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born and reared in a faithful Christian home and professed a saving faith in Christ at a young age. John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas, a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Midwestern Seminary in Kansas City, and is pursuing additional studies. John is a former real estate executive and spent 20 years in the business world.

John and his wife Sydney have been married for 19 years. They have three children who are actively involved at Covenant.

This Week's service included the sermon "Live with Christ," from 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, the eighth installment in our sermon series 1 & 2 Thessalonians: Every Grace Endued. The hymns for this week were "All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name," Psalm 130, "Redeemed, How I Love to Proclaim It!," and "Soldiers of Christ, Arise." The offertory for this week was "Come, Come Unto Me," performed by members Amy Maurer, Carol Sue Clayton, and Director of Music Brandon Bolin.
This week's service included the sermon "Our Hope in Christ" from 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, the seventh installment in our sermon series 1 & 2 Thessalonians: Every Grace Endued. The hymns for this week were "Rejoice, the Lord Is King," Psalm 97, "O Sacred Head, Now Wounded," and "My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less." In addition, the offertory featured church member Lee Krehbiel playing "Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus" on the bagpipes.
In this special service, we ordained and installed Jon Hendrickson as a ruling elder and Roger Ayers and Justin Horne as deacons of Covenant Presbyterian. We also ordained Jason Glover as a teaching elder and a chaplain to the Army National Guard. Pastor John's sermon was "The Giver's Gifts" from Ephesians 4:1-16, and the hymns sung were "Brethren, We Have Met to Worship," Psalm 122, and "The Church's One Foundation." The choir also sang "Bless His Holy Name."

In this week's service, as we do the first Sunday of every month, we observed the sacrament of the Lord's Supper. So, Pastor John took a break from 1 Thessalonians and preached from Genesis 45:1-9, "God's Sovereign Purpose." The hymns for this week were "Behold Our God," Psalm 100, "O Sacred Head, Now Wounded," "Come, For the Feast Is Spread," and our traditional post-communion "Benediction." In addition, this week's offertory was sung by our Director of Music, Brandon Bolin, and member Susan Haines.
This week's service included the sermon "Living Life in Christ" from 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12, the sixth installment in our sermon series 1 & 2 Thessalonians: Every Grace Endued. The hymns for this week were "All Creatures of Our God and King," Psalm 146, "I Will Sing of My Redeemer," and "All to Jesus I Surrender." The choir sang "By Grace I'm Saved, Grace Free and Boundless" for the offertory.

This week's service included the sermon "Children of the Covenant" from Genesis 17:9-10. The hymns for this week were "You Holy Angels Bright," Psalm 78 (verses 1-8), "Jesus Paid It All," "Children of the Heavenly Father," and "Wonder of Wonders, Here Revealed.' The choir sang "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" for the offertory anthem. This service also included the infant baptism of Isaac Glover, but due to technical difficulties, the video is cut off before the end of the sermon.
